In April 2026, I audited a Webflow landing page for a B2B service offer with one job: turn visitors from Google Search and LinkedIn Ads into qualified consultation requests. The page had traffic. It had form submissions. It also had a quiet leak between the hero section and the form that nobody could agree on because every report showed a different version of the truth.
GA4 said the page converted at 2.1% across 3,842 sessions. Webflow showed 81 form submissions in the dashboard for the same 30-day window. Microsoft Clarity showed rage clicks, dead clicks, and scroll depth, but the early read was too vague: people were getting stuck somewhere above the pricing block. Fine. Where exactly? And did that friction cost pipeline or just annoy tire-kickers?
That second question is where most landing-page analysis goes soft.
Clarity is strong at showing behavior. Google Analytics 4 is better at measuring outcomes. Webflow is where the lead record actually lands. The workflow starts working when those three systems answer one shared question: which page problem is attached to the most valuable missed conversions?
Microsoft describes Clarity Copilot as an AI feature that summarizes session recordings and calls out user actions, likely intent, and friction signals like rage clicks, dead clicks, quick backs, and excessive scrolling. Its heatmap summaries do the same kind of compression for click and scroll behavior. That matters because nobody running paid and organic programs has time to watch 200 anonymous session recordings on a Tuesday afternoon.
But I would not let Copilot rank fixes by itself. A Copilot summary that says users ignore the secondary CTA is interesting. A GA4 report showing that users who miss the CTA have a 0.4% key event rate while users who reach the comparison table convert at 5.8% is useful. A Webflow export showing that the 5.8% group includes seven SQL-fit leads from Salesforce, HubSpot, Klaviyo, and two Series B SaaS companies turns it into a work order.
Here is the operating setup I use.
First, GA4 needs a clean event spine. Since March 2024, Google has used “key events” inside Analytics for actions that matter to the business, while “conversions” are tied more tightly to Google Ads sharing and advertising workflows. Google explains the split in its GA4 key events documentation. For a Webflow landing page, I usually mark three events as key events: form_start, generate_lead, and booking_click if the page sends qualified users to Calendly or Chili Piper.
The naming is boring on purpose. In this audit, generate_lead fired only after Webflow showed the native success state, not when someone clicked the submit button. That distinction caught 14 failed attempts over 30 days. People clicked submit, saw a required-field error, and left. If we had counted button clicks as leads, the paid program would have looked healthier than it was.
Second, Webflow has to keep the operational truth. Webflow’s own docs say form submission tables can include the page URL, submission date and time, and fields like name and email when those fields exist. The same submissions can be filtered, sorted, and downloaded as CSV from the dashboard. For teams that need the API, Webflow’s v2 endpoint can retrieve form submissions by form_id with the forms:read scope, up to 100 records per request, according to the developer docs.
For the April audit, I added four hidden fields to the Webflow form: landing_page_path, utm_source, utm_campaign, and gclid_present. The page already captured email, company size, and budget range. That gave us enough to separate empty form noise from leads that sales would actually touch.
Third, Clarity needs segmentation, not wandering. Microsoft’s GA integration docs say Clarity can connect with Google Analytics so teams can view recordings and heatmaps through GA dimensions and metrics. In plain English, that means you can stop browsing all sessions and focus on the ones that map to a measurable outcome.
I usually build four Clarity segments for a landing-page review. Sessions with a GA4 generate_lead key event. Sessions with form_start but no generate_lead. Sessions from paid traffic with no form interaction. Sessions from organic search that reached at least 75% scroll depth. That last one keeps SEO visitors in the room because organic traffic often behaves differently from paid traffic, especially on pages that rank for comparison or problem-aware queries.
The Copilot summaries get much better when the segment is tight. On the April page, Copilot kept flagging repeated clicks on a customer logo row. At first that looked minor. Then the heatmap summary showed the same cluster across mobile and desktop, with dead clicks on four logos above the fold. In session recordings, visitors paused there after reading the headline, clicked a logo, got no proof page or tooltip, and then half of them opened the nav.
The GA4 layer gave that behavior a price tag. Among 612 sessions that clicked the logo row, the form_start rate was 1.6%. Among 488 sessions that clicked into the pricing FAQ first, the form_start rate was 7.4%. The Webflow submissions made it sharper: the FAQ path produced 19 submissions, 11 with company sizes above 50 employees, while the logo-click path produced 6 submissions and only 1 above that threshold.
So the first fix was not a new hero headline. It was making the logo row answer the question visitors were already asking.
We changed the logos into linked proof points. Stripe-style logo wallpaper would have been the lazy move, so we used five short case-study cards below the hero instead: company type, use case, time to result, and one metric. One card said “Series A fintech, onboarding audit, 18% lift in booked demos after 21 days.” Another said “Marketplace team, paid search landing page, CPL down from $412 to $276 in May 2026.” The numbers were pulled from internal client notes, then rounded to avoid false precision.
The second fix came from a uglier place: mobile form errors.
Clarity Copilot summarized several recordings with the same behavior: users tapped the budget dropdown, hesitated, tried submit, then backed out after the red validation message appeared. GA4 only showed this as form_start without generate_lead. Webflow showed 23 submissions with blank budget fields in the failed-attempt logs we captured through a lightweight custom event in Google Tag Manager. The required field was doing its job from a database perspective and failing from a revenue perspective.
We changed the budget field from required to optional and added “Not sure yet” as the first visible option. Small thing. The kind of thing a stakeholder meeting would ignore if the only evidence was scroll depth.
For the next 21 days, GA4 showed generate_lead rate moving from 2.1% to 3.0% across 2,906 sessions. Webflow logged 87 submissions, and 39 met the sales-fit rule we used for the test: business email, company size above 10, and either a stated budget or a message with a buying trigger. LinkedIn Ads spend stayed within 4% of the prior period. Organic sessions from Google Search Console were flat enough that I did not credit SEO for the lift.
Was every point of lift caused by those two fixes? No. A competitor launched a pricing page during the same window, and one newsletter mention sent 146 extra sessions on May 9, 2026. Still, the directional signal was clean enough to keep going because the same pattern appeared in three places: Clarity showed reduced friction, GA4 showed more key events, and Webflow showed better lead quality.
That is the standard I want before touching a page again.
A lot of landing-page work gets trapped in visual arguments. Someone wants the CTA higher. Someone wants a shorter page. Someone dislikes the testimonial block because it feels dated. Clarity Copilot can make that worse if the team treats every AI summary as a directive. “Users are not engaging with this section” is not a roadmap. It is a clue.
The roadmap comes from weighting clues against revenue intent. A rage click from a returning visitor who later submits the form is less urgent than a dead click that appears in 40 paid sessions with no form_start. A heatmap cold zone below 80% scroll depth may not matter if Webflow shows that qualified leads convert before they ever reach it. Scroll depth is an attention metric, not a pipeline metric.
My scoring sheet is simple. I give each issue a friction count from Clarity, an event loss estimate from GA4, and a lead-quality weight from Webflow. For the April audit, the logo-row issue had 612 affected sessions, a 5.8-point gap in form_start rate compared with the FAQ path, and weak lead quality. The budget-field issue had fewer affected sessions, but it sat one step before submission and touched buyers with visible intent. Both shipped before the copy rewrite.
The copy rewrite still happened. It just came third.
If you run this workflow, do one uncomfortable thing before you open Clarity: define what a good lead means. Not a lead. A good one. For one founder-led SaaS company I worked with in 2025, a good Webflow submission meant 20 or more employees, a work email, and a problem statement mentioning SOC 2, onboarding, churn, or Salesforce. For a services business, it might be budget above $5,000 and a requested start date inside 60 days.
Without that definition, GA4 key events will flatten everything into a single success bucket. Webflow will count every form fill. Clarity will show vivid recordings of people who were never going to buy. The tools will all be telling the truth, and the combined read will still send you in the wrong direction.
The better workflow is narrower. Use Clarity Copilot to compress the behavioral mess. Use GA4 key events to locate the revenue step where the behavior matters. Use Webflow submissions to decide whether the affected people resemble customers or just traffic. Then ship the smallest page change that removes the paid-in-real-money friction.
That is how landing-page optimization becomes ops work instead of opinion trading.
